Clark Estate
The 26 acre vineyard lies on two terraces at the higher end of the Awatere Valley. Well draining stony river gravels allow the vines to develop good root structure until they encounter a thick layer of impermeable papa clay.
Yields are quite low, usually around 5 to 6 tons per acre. Grapes ripen slowly through hot days and cool nights with the marine influence maintaining crisp acidity, producing wines with powerful aromas & tropical fruit flavors.
The vineyard is divided into 3 plots which are harvested separately and blended together, showing the stony, light grass & citrus peel each has to offer.
